12 Minutes of your Time For One of The Most fascinating Topics On Earth

One of the ways I study is to watch videos while crocheting or nursing Moira. I came across this video and it is the perfect 12 minute summary of everything I've learned this quarter about human evolution as we know about it so far.

AS A MOTHER or parent in general I believe this will interest you, so don't scroll away before you hear me out. He touches briefly on why it was so important for our human species to start giving birth to our babies so prematurely compared to other animals and our human ancestors, and why it then became important for us to be more involved in their care and develop our family culture and complex social behavior. If you want to skip ahead to that part, go to minute 7:32.

However, I encourage you to go ahead and take the time to watch the whole thing. The SciShow has become one of my most favorite channels on YouTube, and the videos aren't boring. Also, after 12 minutes you'll be up to date on what the fossil record is telling us about our own origins. Regardless of your religious beliefs, this is what we are seeing, and it's still valuable to know.

Unless you are a Biblical literalist, and you honestly believe the earth is only 6,000-10,000 years old. In which case, you will hate this video and should probably stop reading this blog.

  1. Absolutely fascinating. Then again, I have been curious about evolution in and of itself. Will definitely have to watch more of these shows, thanks for sharing!
